Conjugal Gist (5)

*5*           Why the failure in marriages? It is easily traced to two offences: unloving attitude (of the husband) and disobedience (on the part of the wife). A man cannot hide his money from his wife. Generosity marks the impresa of Jesus’ involvement with humanity. If you cannot put your life at peril for your wife’s sake, you cannot boast of your love for her. “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” [John 15:13]. Jesus also says in John 10:11, “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” “The emphasis,” as JFB Commentary puts it, “lies not on ‘friends,’ but on ‘laying down his life’ for them; that is, ‘One can show no greater regard for those dear to him than to give his life for them, and this is the love ye shall find in Me.'”

Commit your life to her pleasure: that is what Jesus did. Have regard for your wife. Try not to forget that she is a weaker vessel. Give your wife things. Do things for her pleasure. She is not your slave or your servant just because you paid money called bride price to her parents. She has equal standing with you before Almighty God. What if she has wilfully decided to make things worse for you, her husband? Forgive her: for she knows not what she is doing. Jesus forgave those who despitefully used and consequently murdered Him! Take the disobedient matter to Jesus, the Head of your spousal designation.

 

             To the designated wife Jesus told, “Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you” [John 15:14]. Was it not to the disciples He made a solemn account of Matthew 16:18, “…..upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it”? We understand as well, that when “….but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high” [Luke 24:49], came to its consummation it actually birthed God’s most guarded secret -the Church. The verb ‘command’ of John 15:14 is entellomai (en-tel’-lom-ahee) ‘to order, command to be done, enjoin.’ Listen, as a wife, to the man’s words. Just do them if you are a good representative of the Church. It will surprise many husbands to see themselves eternally under their earthly wives, in heaven, for having more crowns.

The LION of Judah and HIS Bride

One of the things your husband cannot do is the introduction of another deity worship. He cannot tell you not to go to Church. If he should tell you to act in a way that is antipodal to God’s express word, you have every right, before His Almightiness, to repudiate his instruction. He cannot tell you not to pray. He has no right to cheat on you by engaging in an illicit extramarital affairs. The Bible has a name for this act: adultery. It is idolatrous. For worshipping other gods God judged Israel in the Book of Jeremiah 3:6, “The LORD said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot.”

Mary leaned on the dream of the Bridegroom

The word ‘backsliding’ is mshuwbah (mesh-oo-baw’) (or mshubah {mesh-oo-baw’}) meaning: ‘apostasy.’ Mshuwbah is a feminine noun: for every worshipper is a female before whom or what he or she bows in adoration. Zanah (zaw-naw’) is the active word for ‘played the harlot,’ meaning: ‘1. to commit adultery (usually of the female, and less often of simple fornication, rarely of involuntary ravishment) 2. (figuratively) to commit idolatry (the Jewish people being regarded as the spouse of Jehovah).’ To understand what went on under trees and on elevated places 2Kings 17:9-10 explains it. “And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.10 And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:”

The man has the dream, and not the woman of the conjugal gist. Know his dream. If the dream is beneath you or the type you cannot be bothered with, then, do something. Please, refuse the nuptial knots! Allow not your involvement in its being tied! Let the friendship suffice. No more! This is the reason why I have always told spinsters, “Do not marry a stupid person. He’ll only rule your life in an egregious stupidity!” There probably may not be a perfect man, but I can tell you, “There’re a lot of good, Mr. Right if you ask Jesus. Amen!”

*4*        Many times the wife thinks she can mould her husband to assume the shape of her dreams. How wrong can many women be? As a wife, the woman should know that she is blessed with two lords: her husband and, of course, Jesus. He is the perfect personification of what a husband should be. Did the wife create the man? Does she know the thoughts of his mind? 1Corinthians 11:8-10, “For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. 9) Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. 10) For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.”

 

The head of the family is the husband. The preposition ‘of’ in verse 9 is ek (ek) (or ex ex) ‘1. from (the point whence action or motion proceeds) 2. out (of place, time, or cause).’ The word ‘power’ is the Greek exousia (ex-ou-see’-ah) ‘1. Privilege 2. (subjectively) force, capacity, competency, freedom 3. (objectively) mastery (concretely, magistrate, superhuman, potentate, token of control), delegated influence.’ The wife only wields ‘a delegated authority,’ given to her by her husband. This is attested to by 1Corinthians 11:3, “But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God;” and the key word, ‘head’ is kephalē (kef-al-ay’) ‘from the primary word κάπτω kaptō (in the sense of seizing); the head (as the part most readily taken hold of), literally or figuratively; metaphorically (source or origin).’ The husband is the primary source of the wife, scripturally speaking.

A “Deeper Life Christian Church” member friend of mine teaches that the husband is like the President, and the wife actually, is the Prime Minister (of a parliamentary system of government) in the home. The husband, according to my friend’s understanding, is only the presidential figure head in the family. The wife is the executive power wielding Prime Minister! How can anybody teach this in the scriptural face of 1Corinthians 11:8-10? It is, whether anyone likes it or not, a man’s world, and this is not the thinking of chauvinism. Let the man run the family. Assist him spiritually. Jesus is more than ready to help you Mrs. Adam. This is a reason why I have always asseverated that marriage is designed only for Christians. Amen.

The woman cannot take the role of the man, in the marriage. It is tantamount to a coup d’état. It takes the family back to the evil machination of satanic intrusion. Jesus, as we all know, is a man. HIS human representation in that family is the husband. It says, “submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.”  The adverb ‘as’ is: hos (hoce) meaning: ‘which how, i.e. in that manner (very variously used, as follows).’ As the Church submits, spiritually, to Christ, so is she to submit to her own husband’s decisions.

I am yet to come across a man who will raise the whip to serve some painful punitive lashes upon himself for doing a wrong thing. I, therefore, find it difficult to understand why the husband will deem it fit to hit his wife, no matter how mildly soft the blow is delivered. You cannot even put her under any harsh verbal or mental attack. Help her maintain a psychological appositeness. Jesus, your archetype, is constantly doing everything possible to protect and to comfort us. “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you” [John 14:18]. ‘Comfortless’ is  orphanos (or-fan-os’) ‘bereaved (“orphan”), that is, parentless.’

A dereliction of duty, therefore, is what it amounts to when the husband refuses or decides not to love his wife. The husband must stand in the stead of Jesus, who was coming to the garden every cool of the evening, in His preincarnate manifestation as the LORD God, presiding over the Church services in Eden. The scripture teaches: “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them” [Matthew 18:20]. Marriage constituted the first Church on earth. As long as the pristine Church continued to live by the dictates of her Lord and Head everything went on well.

*3*            An ungodly humanistic perception accounts for Genesis 3:6 “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.” It was a personal decision, outside God’s protocol, that destroyed not only their marriage but the entire globe. They saw what God was not seeing (blasphemy!) They thought what the good Lord did not harbour in His divine mind; and they made a pollutive contact with a cursed thing.

It was not the eating per se, it was actually the disobedience that killed them. Being the first human criminal, the woman, according to spiritual reality, had assumed a certain superiority over her husband. That pleased Lucifer, the tempter. Conjugality had received satanic blow, giving it another construction. But I thank God for doing something. The LORD put it into the man to rename his wife. Genesis 3:20, “And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.” The namer is the owner of the entity. The husband got back his headship role.

The woman, God’s daughter, stood in absolute support of the marriage that God instituted. She refused to follow Lucifer and the great city eastern of Eden. God’s marital business had come to stay. The original couple lived till death did them part, akin to eternity of it. Amen.

The Bride must come, in submission to the call!

The maintenance of a healthy conjugal relationship stands on two limbs: submission and love. Ephesians 5:22, “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.” Ephesians 5:25, “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;” The phrase ‘submit yourselves’ is, in the Greek, hupotassō (hoop-ot-as’-so) ‘to subordinate; reflexively to obey.’ Hupotassō comes from hupo (hoop-o’) ‘by, under,’ and tassō (tas’-so) ‘to arrange in an orderly manner, that is, assign or dispose (to a certain position or lot).’ From these definitions, the divine conjugal expectation is to see the woman doing a packaging of herself, then, place it under the subjection of her husband.

This didacticism, coming from a man, like me, will probably raise an air of chauvinistic satiation. I did not write the Bible. It looks demeaning to women’s liberation oriented person. It is apropos to bring the woman to this refining subjection. As the first to make an ungodly entrance into sinfulness, she acquired an uncanny procacious disposition. Technically, she gained the role of her husband’s boss, as far as Lucifer’s evil kingdom is concerned. In God’s kingdom, the wife is the follower of her husband. Not the vice versa.

‘Love’ is the Greek agapaō (ag-ap-ah’-o) ‘to love (in a social or moral sense).’ Agapaō is the verbal construction of the famous agapē (ag-ah’-pay) kind of love. Agapē is defined by one man of God as: “A love called out of the heart of a lover on account of the value he has placed on the object of his love.” The love of the husband towards his wife is that of sheer commitment. Love is not a feeling. It is a committed state of being.

A long time ago when I heard Pastor W. F. Kumuyi of Deeper Life Christian Church, taught that: “even if your wife is a witch, you must love your wife,” I shook my head with a vigorous objection, followed by a resounding, “No!! How can?” Now that I have known the Bible so well, I do agree, one hundred and fifty percent, with Pastor Kumuyi. The sons of the man of the Eden Garden have every reason to journey into a reminiscing of the woman’s plunging of mankind into sin. He is very likely to think that a love commitment to this wife could derail him.

The daughter of Eve, having been regenerated, is expected to adhere, strictly to God’s protocol, the Bible, the same way God expected the woman of Eden to remember the briefing HE gave to her as HE walked with her to Adam, the man. To the wife I counsel, “Submit to the man, your husband. Even if his instructions sound stupid, just agree with him. After you have done your commanded submission, and you think he is wrong, in fact if he happens to be truly wrong, as far as he has not told or ask you to do what is scripturally evil, go to Jesus, talk to Him, He knows what to do.” “The king’s heart,” as the Bible reveals in Proverbs 21:1, “is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.”

Conjugal Gist (2)

The conjugal gist: not for giddy ones

*2*     The earthly marriage must involve only two, specifically, male and female children of God. Only Christians are God’s children. Adam was the woman’s brother before he became her husband. They were created by the same Jehovah, thus, sharing in the Paternity of the Most High: for if Adam is called the son of God (Luke 3:38), then there is no doubt Eve is God’s daughter. Amen! It is for this reason I have always asseverated that marriage is truly for Christians only.

Marriage is an adumbration of the conjugal relationship between the Divinity and the Church. If the Church must of ineluctability pass through the grace of the cross, every betrothal must be composed of a born again couple. “Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid” [1Corinthians 6:15].

                                                 HOUSEHOLD OF GOD CHURCH

Christians have the gracious endowment of the righteousness of Christ. Before Almighty God, those who are not born again are practitioners of heathenism. We should be bound to our Creator. A worshipper is a wife to the worshipped deity. To worship another, other than Jehovah, is the same as having an illicit affair outside the marriage. The man and the woman must have gone through the regenerative engenderment of the Holy Spirit. This conjugality ushers them into another vineyard. Marriage is a commitment. It is God’s business. The sagacious and matured are the expected ones in this venture, till death do them part. A momentous occasion is the seriousness when the nuptial knots get tied.

It is an absolute mockery of God’s institutionalised wedlock, when a Christ-less couple decides to marry. Marriage is all about Jesus and His espoused Church. It is for this espousal that He went to the gory cross. It will take only the ones born from above -of the Holy Spirit- to understand the convolutionary vicissitudes targeted at the union by the enemy. 2Corinthians 1:21-22, “Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; 22) Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.”

Every born again Christian has, dwelling in him, the Holy Spirit. His indwelling is a fulfilled promise by the Lord Jesus in John 14:16, “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;” and I thank God that it is forever; meaning that I have no choice in His occupation of my heart. It is solely God’s business! The forever indwelling points to the fact that nothing can make me lose this salvation. Amen.

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come” [John 16:13]. This Spirit of truth must be God Himself, for His capability to teach me all truths. John 14:17 says, “Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” The thing is: how can non-Christian reach out to God when marital upheavals descend on the union? A humanistic founded knowledge, laced with a touch of existentialism become the odd key. Humanist philosophies do fail.

Genesis 2:15, “And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.” Before the woman came into the scene the man had his own responsibilities. ‘Eden,’ in the Hebrew is‛êden (ay’-den): ‘pleasure; luxury, dainty, delight, finery.’ This is what God’s marriage is. The word ‘dress’ is ‛âbad (aw-bad’): ‘to work.’ And ‘keep’? It is called shâmar (shaw-mar’) ‘to hedge about (as with thorns), that is, guard; generally to protect, attend to.’ The woman’s role as ‘help meet’ is ‛êzer (ay’-zer) ‘aid;’ which comes from ‛âzar (aw-zar’) ‘to surround, that is, protect or aid.’ She is the supporter of her husband’s protective decisions. The two of them know the LORD, their God. They had fellowship with Him every cool evening of each day. These are God’s children. These children brought the marriage palaver upon their own heads. Conjugal Gist (1)

*1*            There is no personal and cognitional adroitness on the conjugality of the Homo sapiens. The very reason, indeed, is not farfetched for the simplicity of the prevalent fact that the conjugal gist takes its seminality from God’s architectural design. The Bible, ergo, remains the sole protocol of its guiding constitution. Amen. Did the institutionalisation of this union commence in the heavenly assizes? Yes and no is the answer.

It is no, because the availability of male and female genders do not exist in heaven. Yes, in the sense that before the foundation of the earth, the LORD God had purposed in His heart, in the celestial assizes, to create a couple and even slain Christ in divine anticipation of Adam’s sinfulness. Revelation 13:8 quotes, “And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” Adam’s sleep is archetypal of our Lord’s death on the cross, which was purposed before the creation of the world and man.

This generation is the Church

Ephesians 1:4 says, “According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.” The word ‘chosen’ is eklegomai (ek-leg’-om-ahee), which speaks of ‘selection and picking.’ Those chosen before the foundation of the world were His bride to be (not from the whimsical arbitrariness of Calvinistic TULIP where the ‘U’ is an ‘unconditional election’). Marriage is the most serious institution, hence, the attendant difficulty which the enemy engenders.

“And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him” [Genesis 2:18]. The word ‘alone,’ bad (bad), is both noun and adverb meaning: properly separation; by implication a part of the body, branch of a tree, bar for carrying; figuratively chief of a city; especially (with prepositional prefix) as adverb, apart, only, besides.’ This bad comes from bâdad (baw-dad’): ‘to withdraw, be separate, be isolated.’

Adam must not be different from God’s design neither must he remain in the atypical state that does not prefigure the One in whose office he stands: Jesus (the archetypical Bridegroom). Marriage was needed to eliminate the technicality of his separation from the Messiah he prefigured. He is God’s son by creation but this conjugality also has an attribute of legality. When God brought the woman to the man, He came as the Father-in-law and that is the legality. This way Adam’s stand had a divine, legal backing. Amen!

The Bride: Church, needs the sword: Word of God.

‘Help meet’ is the Hebrew‛êzer (ay’-zer) ‘aid.’ Êzer comes from‛âzar (aw-zar’) ‘to surround, that is, protect or aid.’ The woman that was brought before Adam, the male, was a help meet for him, standing before, and very much like him. Jesus will have His bride. Adam must have his: for he must not be different. I have heard many Christians teach that Adam was bored, feeling so lonely in the Garden, where there was none he could relate with. That could never have been at all! Let us not forget that Adam had not spent the first twenty-four hours of his nascent life on earth yet.

There were hundreds of beautiful plants he was yet to be acquainted with. Thousands of created animals (all enthusiastically affable) to discover. There was the awe inspiring picturesque, vastness of the atmosphere and, of course, the enthralling twinkle of the stars he was yet to behold! How could a perfectly made Adam suffer from boredom, when he would need more than five years to luxuriate in the variety of the sceneries abounding the terra firma? His conjugal companionship was never a covert or overt wish of his, but Jehovah’s actuation of His eternally nursed dream. Amen.

The Bride of Jesus is the Church

The marriage institution is God’s most guarded secret. Satan did everything to destroy the prognosticative Eden version. His preoccupied fetish was to bring Adam, the female, under his worshipful control. It was the moment of the truth. It was Lucifer’s scrimmage for the ownership of Adam’s dominion. There was only one woman. The woman did not fall into the machination of Lucifer. God’s triumph engendered the physical, bridal Church of Jesus. Today there is only one Jesus and only one Church. The emergent Church came into physical existence only after the death, resurrection, ascension and session of Jesus. Before the woman of Eden came into being the dead Adam had risen from sleep, which is the Hebraic tardêmâh (tar-day-maw’), a type of death in their language.

ADAM WAS NOT DECEIVED; SO WHAT HAPPENED (four)?

Adam was not deceived

*4**      The Devil could not conceal his devious intention in Luke 4:5-7. 5) “And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6) And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. 7) If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.” Note that Jesus did not differ on Lucifer’s claim to the ownership of the cosmos and the dominion of it. Where he was actually taking Jesus was to be ‘worshipped.’

The word ‘worship,’ of verse seven is proskuneo (pros-koo-neh’-o) ‘1. to fawn or crouch to 2. to fall face down (prostrate) in adoration 3. a physical act of lowering oneself in humble submission with an attitude of utmost adoration or respect.’ Please, do try to carry out some research on the richest people of this world and you will find out that they, the very richest, are quite satanic. Lucifer, the god of mammonism, did give it to them! They have done the proskuneo before him, who desires it more than anything else in his derailed, evil life. Lucifer. Why, you would probably ask, the reason he took Jesus to the high mountain? He simply aped the Most High, which he is not; nothing would please the disillusionment of the warped mentality of Lucifer’s insanity than being worshipped on a mountain.

Luke 4:9 “And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:” The motto of the devil can be found in the scriptures. Jesus says in John 10:10, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:”* He wanted to kill Jesus the same way he killed the first Adam. He wanted to steal from Jesus, the mandate and the anointing to save mankind. To have destroyed Jesus would have truncated His divine business. Satan craved the ownership of the Church. Thank God that Satan failed!

Matthew 26:24 “The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.” Jesus gave Judas Iscariot an ample opportunity to rescind his cruel resolution to sell off his Lord and Master. He even told him the danger of his Satanic embarkment. Judas was as stiffnecked as Lucifer, his spiritual father.

In conclusion, we see the reenactment of Eden intrigue in the garden of Gethsemane. Judas acted the Eden ophidian role of Satanism; he came to steal, to kill and to destroy. The same way God used Adam as an entrapment to sentence the masquerading Lucifer, so He used the villainous machination of Judas to engender the passion of the Christ, which resulting in the death of the sinless Christ, paved way for His resurrection and by extension, that of His bride, the body of Christ. Amen!

Our minds are playgrounds for the operations of Satanism. He has an unchallenged access to our thinking faculties, where he drops any stupid notion that comes to him. It is this same thought realm, of mankind, he has continued to tread from Adam’s days to the future day of his incarceration. Satan will do anything to deprave us of the copious bestowal of our Christlike virtues. Keep away from satanic deception. Amen!

Get Jesus initiated by getting born again: pray this prayer, believing it with all your heart. Say, “Dear heavenly Father, I come to You now in the name of Jesus Christ. I believe in my heart that Jesus is the Son of God. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sin. I believe that You raised Him from the dead. I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and I receive Him now as my Lord and my Saviour. I give God all the glory. Amen!” (The Conclusion)
